Community Partners of South Florida's Teen Outreach Program would like congratulate the Class of 2020.
"You cannot dream of becoming something you do not know about. You have to learn to dream big. Education exposes you to what the world has to offer, to the possibilities open to you." - Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.
Hello, my name is Sophia Goodwin and I am a graduating Senior at Forest Hill High School.
My dream job ever since I was just a kid has been to become a successful tattoo artist. I’ve always considered my-self to be creative. Art class was my favorite class in middle school and chorus was my favorite class in high school.
Although I am more interested in the arts, I have always made an effort to do my best in school. Throughout high school I maintained at least a 3.0 GPA while also keeping up with my artistic abilities, just so I didn't lose them!
Now that I am graduating I can put all of my focus into my art and fulfill my lifelong dream.
During this pandemic I have dedicated my free time to practicing my craft and learning how to tattoo on all different skin textures and colors. If I practice enough I know that one day I will be known around the world for my art!
Thank you!
Hello, my name is Juliana Rodriguez and I am a graduating senior at Forest Hill High School.
After high school I plan on attending college at Southeastern University studying Christian Ministerial Leadership.
I am not the first one in my family to attend college, but I am the first to attend straight out of high school.
It feels weird being finished with school. It's so unreal to be graduating high school.
The pandemic did ruin my senior year by taking prom and grad bash from me, but I still had a blast in high school. I made and lost friends throughout high school, I did struggle a lot with school, but I made it through and I’M GRADUATING!!
Thank you!
Hello my name is Sylvia Hooks.
I am currently a Senior at Palm Beach Lakes High School with a 3.0 GPA and am ready to go to the next step in life.
My dream is to go to FAU or FAM but right now I will be going to Palm Beach State first for two years.
I would also like to join the service.
My dreams are to become a real estate agent and to be very successful in the business world.
I have big dreams to help the homeless and people who need help because I love to see a smile on people faces and making sure they are happy.
Hello! My name is Yanira Velasquez and I am finishing my senior year at Palm Beach Lakes Community High School where I have managed to keep good grades throughout high school.
I was a part of multiple clubs in high school such as TOP, First Priority & Chess. I have also been accepted to multiple colleges but I am still indecisive in which college I would like to attend because I have been looking into obtaining my Cosmetology license.
I have also been looking into some trade schools that have Phlebotomy as well. My main major that I will like to take in college is Criminal Justice to become a Homicide Detective.
I am the third person in my family to graduate high school and the first person to attend college. My experience in high school was truly a roller coaster. I had many fun times and also many obstacles.
High school has really prepared me for college and adulthood. Unfortunately, all of my senior activities have been canceled due to this pandemic such as: gradbash, prom & most importantly walking across that stage which is every senior's dream.
Hello, My name is Jenia McClendon. I’m a senior at Palm Beach Lakes Community High School.
I will be attending Tallahassee Community Col-lege in their AA (Associate Arts) program. Later on I will transfer to ei-ther FAMU or BCU as a junior to major in criminal justice of social work.
I plan to graduate college with at least 3 degrees:: AA , Bachelor’s degree, and Masters. Also I will be the first in my family to graduate high school and attend college.
Now that I am done with high school, the feeling is somewhat surreal. It’s kind of hard to grasp the feeling of actually graduating high school while at the same time I’ll never know what it’s like to walk across the stage in my cap & gown and get that full graduation experience.
My thoughts on the pandemic are everything happens for a reason. Yes, we may have had some minor setbacks but I believe deep down inside that it was for a major comeback. This pandemic gave most of us time to better ourselves, become grateful and plan ahead for ourselves.
Hi, my name is Sebria Young and I am a Senior at Palm Beach Lakes Community High School in West Palm Beach, FL.
I will be attending Tuskegee University in Alabama. My intended majors will be Psychology and Social Work.
Now that my high school chapter has come to an end, I feel as if I came up for a breath, just a brief one, because it will be time to go back to work. I also feel as if this is the beginning of a new, exciting, yet educational experience for me.
Due to this pandemic, I’ve missed out on prom, the rest of my band season, a graduation ceremony and the rest of my senior festivities.
I also had to celebrate my 18th birthday in the house watching Netflix, but I am soon hoping to make up for lost time before I leave for school. I had to soon learn that this pandemic didn’t just put a halt to my plans, it stopped everyone right in the middle of their tracks.
My name is Jy'Miaria Sanders and I am a Senior at Palm Beach Lakes Community High School.
My plan after high school is to attend Palm Beach State College and work part-time. I will be going to college to take part in criminal justice studies. I am the first in my family to go to college.
I was kicked out of my home by my parents and it took a toll on my mental health. I didn't have faith in myself anymore. I literally assumed I wouldn't graduate but I got the motivation to do so. I needed to and I am indeed graduating!
It just makes me feel relieved . One thing less that I have to worry about.
This pandemic furies me because I lost my two jobs and got kicked out of the house.
Sometimes I feel if the pandemic never hit I would still be in that beautiful house with my family but deep down I know it's not true. I will be great because of this pandemic I realized the true meaning of love and I've witnessed real struggle.
I've seen things an average 18 year old wouldn't have seen. I am sure God got me this far and I know he will guide me throughout my college days.
Hello, if you don’t know me my name is Aundreah Hicks.
I am currently a senior at Palm Beach Lakes Community High School. In the summer, I will be attending Valencia College in Orlando, Florida for 2 years and then I will transfer to the University of Central Florida to complete my masters degree in Criminal Justice.
I cherished the moments I spent in Law Honor Society and I am excited to continue my journey in the law field.
My favorite part about high school was getting the chance to be a part of the Lakes varsity cheer team, building bonds, and meeting new people. I loved the experience I had being Vice President of the class of 2020 for 2 years.
