2022 Summer Reading Program
Community Partners of South Florida's Development Committee worked with BRIDGES at Highland for their 2022 Summer Reading Program.
Committee volunteers read to children in both English and Spanish, played games and practiced affirmations with them.
Reading is fundamental to a child's growth and reading together develops a strong bond, listening skills and vocabulary building.
Some studies have even shown that reading with children may promote higher language and IQ scores all the way up to age 14.
In addition to improving language skills and supporting cognitive development, reading to children expands creativity, attention span and emotional development which are all crucial to continued academic success.
After six weeks, the program culminated in a graduation ceremony where BRIDGES at Highland Director Oriana thanked everyone who made the 2022 Summer Reading Program a success, handed out certificates to BRIDGES members and books to our kids.
We would like to thank all of our development committee volunteers who came out for the 2022 Summer Reading Program and hope they will join us again next year.
Reading together, we can open up new worlds.
Reading together, we can build strong foundations for academic success.
Reading together, we can #ChangeTheOdds
