Introducing Dr. Kaisha Thomas: Leading the Way in Mental Health at CPSFL
We are excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Kaisha Thomas as our new Vice President of Child and Family Mental Health Services at Community Partners of South Florida. With more than 20 years of experience in mental health and addiction treatment, Dr. Thomas brings a wealth of expertise, leadership, and passion to this critical role.
Dr. Kaisha Thomas's extensive background spans clinical leadership, program development, and strategic oversight in both non-profit and for-profit sectors. Dr. Thomas has a deep passion for working with diverse populations, including families, individuals navigating addiction, and clients with co-occurring mental health conditions.
Dr. Thomas earned a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy, specializing in Medical Family Therapy and Health Care Systems, along with a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and in Dance/Movement Therapy. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Certified Sex Therapist (CST), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and Certified Forensic Mental Health Evaluator (CFMHE). These credentials underscore her commitment to providing comprehensive, compassionate care for children, families, and individuals.
In addition to her clinical and operational expertise, Dr. Thomas has made significant contributions to academia. She has served as a Part-Time Faculty member at Capella University’s School of Counseling & Human Services since 2012 and has been a qualified supervisor for the State of Florida for the past 19 years. Her teaching and mentoring at both Master’s and Ph.D. levels highlight her dedication to advancing the mental health field and developing the next generation of professionals.
At CPSFL, Dr. Thomas oversees programs designed to improve outcomes for children and families facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Her commitment to enhancing mental health services aligns with CPSFL’s mission to change the odds for children and families.
Originally from New York, Dr. Thomas is excited to bring her experience, passion, and leadership to CPSFL. As a graduate of the Juilliard School of Performing Arts, it is no surprise that in her free time, she enjoys attending the performing arts! Dr. Thomas also enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
