Leadership Update from Scott Hansel, CEO
Shouldn’t everyone have the chance to achieve their best health? I certainly think so. Unfortunately, not every person in our community has the same opportunities to be healthy. Many social and environmental factors limit not only access but also the continued use of good health practices and healthcare. Disparities in income, education, quality housing, discriminatory policies and unsafe neighborhoods all impact health outcomes over the course of a lifetime.
By reducing and challenging these obstacles, we promote better health for everyone in our community. Health equity is a large part of the Community Partners of South Florida comprehensive community development vision to revitalize neighborhoods by focusing on three critical areas: Health – Housing – Community.
Health equity means every person has the chance to achieve their best health. At CPSFL, we want all children to be engaged and ready to learn. Children should feel safe, have nutritious food to eat, and have friends and family who wrap them in support and love. We want children and families to reach social and emotional well-being and stability. Our programs and services support residents on their unique journeys through both happiness and hardship. Positive parenting programs – behavioral and mental health counseling – and even our substance use treatment team – they all contribute to the well-being of the individuals and families who make up our communities.
Please take a look at how we serve (Impact Snapshot) and create a more equitable Palm Beach County. I encourage you to stay involved with us. Become a mentor, join a committee, or share conversation with our staff, our board of directors and volunteers on June 23 during our summer ‘friend-raiser’ at Ford’s Garage in Wellington from 6-8:30 PM. We are excited to meet others who care about changing the odds for Palm Beach County’s children and families facing adversity.
Sincerely,
Scott Hansel, CEO
