SOFI Has Been a Lifesaver for Me and My Family

Buying a home is a complicated and involved process. That’s why Community Partners of South Florida is committed to standing with our clients every step of the way just as we did with Marian Robertson. Marian enrolled in the Securing Our Futures Initiative (SOFI) seeking to raise her credit score and create a sustainable budget. 

SOFI is a collective impact initiative that addresses poverty in Palm Beach County and offered by Community Partners of South Florida (CPSFL) in partnership with Palm Beach County Community Services Department. 

Calling her experience, “a breath of fresh air,” Marian worked with Program Coordinator Coryati Campbell and Housing Program Manager Odessa Walker. Together, they worked on raising Marian’s credit score and supported her in creating a sustainable budget. They also went through the nuances of the home-buying process, forwarded Marian home listings that she might be interested in, and even went as far as driving her to viewings and open houses.

“Miss Cory and Miss Odessa have been a great inspiration to me,” she said. “Cory has coached and uplifted me through some of the most trying times and I am proud to announce that I will be closing on my home in October with the help of Community Partners of South Florida.”

Secure in the knowledge that she has a safe place to call home, Marian is now setting her sights on her next goal – obtaining her food and sanitization licenses so she can expand her catering business, crafting dessert tables for events.

“SOFI has been a lifesaver for me and my family,” Marian said.
