Community Partners of South Florida provides quality school-based mentoring programs for Palm Beach County youth.
Mentoring links children with caring adults who are committed to their social and emotional development. The goal of the mentoring program is to build protective factors, foster a sense of connectedness, and support social-emotional learning through a supportive, positive adult mentor/mentee relationship.
CPSFL mentoring programs are based on Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring™.
Mentors and mentees meet and participate in supervised, structured activities at school-based sites during traditional, after-school hours: Monday through Friday from 2:30 - 6:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
We operate four mentoring programs across the School District of Palm Beach County:
- Highland Elementary School - Supports 35 matches annually
- Lake Worth Middle School - Supports 25 matches annually
- Pioneer Park Elementary School - Supports 21 matches annually
- Pahokee Elementary School - Supports 21 matches annually
“Mentees on the Move” is a STEM-themed mentoring program made possible through the Palm Beach County STEM Education Council and the School District of Palm Beach County. Through a collaboration with the Cox Science Center and Aquarium and the support of generous local partners, this unique program supports the STEM career pipeline, inspires students to embrace STEM principles, and allows STEM professionals to positively influence our community.
Preventing students from dropping out of the STEM talent pipeline is essential to meeting current and future U.S. job demands. Nearly 30 percent of students say they would like to pursue STEM careers, and this number is increasing - thanks to our amazing mentors. We are always looking for qualified volunteers for "Mentees on the Move" - apply to become a mentor today!
We have volunteer opportunities for adults 18 years and older.
Mentors must complete an interview and a Level 2 FBI background check.
The mentor will be supervised, trained, and supported in order to provide an optimal mentoring experience for the child.
