School-Based Mental Health

Co-located Mental Health Professionals support PBC public school students.A partnership with Palm Beach County School District will continue through the Behavioral-Mental Health Services for Students initiative for the upcoming academic school year. Community Partners of South Florida (CPSFL) employees serve as co-located Mental Health Professionals and support students in twelve public schools across Palm Beach County. Students may receive twelve sessions at no cost to families.

Co-located Mental Health Professionals supplement the work of district mental health professionals (e.g., School Counselors, School Psychologists, School Behavioral Health Professionals) and community-based agencies. They are supervised by CPSFL directors and collaborate with school teams, policies, and procedures.

When children and teens struggle with a social or emotional challenge, their academics can suffer, and they may have difficulties with interpersonal relationships, coping, and overall behaviors. Having a mental health professional co-located on the school campus can help them to improve their social (how they relate to others), emotional (how they feel) and behavioral (how they act) well-being. This program reflects a collective endeavor of love, dedication, and a shared vision to build strong, trusting partnerships with each school. Our goal is to meet the immediate mental health needs of students, focusing on helping them develop resilience and the overall well-being necessary to succeed in school and life.

In addition, students served by this behavioral-mental health initiative may receive additional services through Community Partners of South Florida. CPSFL provides services in other schools throughout Palm Beach County. The Jim Moran Foundation and other private donors support this program.
